Things To Do

There are so many activities that you can enjoy during your stay in Yarmouth - which is located in arguably the most beautiful part of the Isle of Wight, known as The West Wight.

As well as enjoying the small shops, pubs and restaurants right on the doorstep of your Yarmouth cottage, the local area also includes Freshwater with further shops, including a butchers, and an indoor swimming pool; Totland Bay, which has a small beach and pier; and the well-known Alum Bay with its coloured sand and attractions.

The Needles If being outdoors is more your thing there are plenty of well sign-posted walks around the island, including the Tennyson trail which runs from The Needles along the top of the cliffs to the picturesque Freshwater Bay. It is possible to walk or cycle between the two towns of Yarmouth and Freshwater by way of an old railway line; the route is lined by marshland and woodland perfect habitats for a large variety of birds and other wildlife including buzzards and reed warblers.

The Needles

The large towns of Newport and Cowes are only a short drive or bus journey away; the latter is world-renowned for its famous 'Cowes Week' and visiting is a must for any sailing fans!

There are a number of National Trust and English Heritage sites all over the island, including Mottistone Manor Gardens, Bembridge Windmill, the Needles Old Battery and Queen Victoria's family home - Osbourne House.

There really is something for everyone to enjoy on the island, and we think you will find that Alma Cottage would be the perfect base from which to explore and relax during your holiday.
